Retired United respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy notice explains how we lawfully process your personal data, including the collection, use, storage and transfer of your data. Personal data we collect about you

We may collect, use, store and transfer the following kinds of personal data about you, when you submit it to us:

  • Email communications: If you get in touch with us by submitting a message through our website Contact form, we will record your name, email address and any message you send.

  • Marketing and Communications Data: If you sign up to receive the Retired United Newsletter, we will collect your email address.

Website analytics

We use Google Analytics to track and analyse web traffic in order for us to improve our website and provide us with essential marketing data (e.g. number of page views to our site in a month). Only anonymous data is stored and we take care to avoid any personal data being sent to Google Analytics. We collect this data under the “legitimate interest” lawful basis.

How we use your personal data

We will only use your personal data when the law allows us to. Most commonly, we will use your personal information for the following reasons:

  • To respond to requests and enquiries from you, which you have submitted via our email address or website contact form

  • Where you have consented (subscribed) to receive email marketing communications (the Retired United Newsletter) from us.

  • Where we need to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation.

Your communication preferences

The Retired United website offers an email Newsletter Subscription service, allowing users to voluntarily sign up to receive information about the Retired United blog. If you subscribe to these updates we will collect your email address. By submitting the Newsletter subscribe form you are subscribing to the Retired United newsletter, your information will be securely stored in’s email marketing platform.

If you have previously subscribed, you can use the Unsubscribe link at (at the bottom of all Newsletters) to opt-out of receiving further Retired United Newsletters from us. You can update your preferences at any time.

If you Unsubscribe from the Retired United newsletter, we will keep a note of your email address and your request so that we can make sure you are excluded from future Newsletters.

Sharing your personal information

We will only share your personal information with the following third parties to assist with the processing of your enquiry to Retired United:

How we protect your data

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. In addition, we limit access to your personal data to Retired United editors and other third parties who have a business need to know. They will only process your personal data on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.

We have put in place procedures to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a breach where we are legally required to do so.

How long we keep your data

We will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for.

We will actively review the information we hold and when there is no longer a customer, legal or business need for us to hold it, we will either delete it securely or in some cases anonymise it.

Your rights

You have the right to request access to, and update or correct, personal data held by us. You can email Retired United’s Data Protection Officer at to exercise this right. We aim to respond to any requests for information within one month and will make corrections based on your updated information. If the request is particularly complex we may have to extend this period to three months, but we will notify you within one month if this is the case.

Where we process personal data based on consent, for example our Retired United Newsletter, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link which we include in all our Newsletter emails.

As well as rights of access and amendment referred to above, you may have other rights in relation to the personal data we hold, such as a right to erasure/deletion, to restrict or object to our processing of personal data and the right to data portability.

If you withdraw your consent, we may not be able to provide certain products or services to you. We will advise you if this is the case at the time you withdraw your consent.
